Is this a hoax?

A few weeks ago, I received an email from someone who wants to advertise in my blog. I responded and ater a few weeks, he gave me the details about his offer. It's quite catching but I read somewhere that this might be a hoax. Has anyone of you received the same email? Or has anyone heard feedbacks about this?

Here's the first email:

Hello Lica,I'm interested in finding out whether or not your Blog accepts
sponsors. What I am interested in is sending you a list of keywords which I
would like linked to certain URLS (all family friendly sites). These links
would
go into your Blog entries or underneath them, however you see best
fit.
Example1:
http://www.thegeekchannel.com/2006/02/18/so-what-is-a-day-trader/ which shows a sponsor link with them keyword "Stock Option
Investing".
Example2:
http://kimzey.blogspot.com/2005/12/shower-humidity.html
where the link is below the post. "Supporter area:" could even be posted
above
the links to differentiate them from your content. We are
offering $2.50
per link, possibly more if the Blog meets certain criteria.
If you're interested
please send a paypal email address that we may send
your payments to. If paypal
is not available we can arrange for other
payment options. Also, the link
information is submitted in excel format.
It's fairly simple but you must have
some understanding of excel format.
I look forward to supporting your
Blog; it's a good one!

Thanks,
Marvin Barraquias

Then, this was the follow-up email:

Thank you for your interest in our program. We look forward to hearing
from
you when the time is right. Participating, and earning money, is
actually
quite simple. Here's how it works:

You agree to post
links for a
set price per link ($2.50 for hosted blogs, $5.00 for unique
domain blogs.
Example:
yourblog.blogspot.com =
$2.50 per link,
yourblog.com = $5.00
per link)
We create a
list of sponsors who would like you to link to
them.
We send you payment
through
www.paypal.com , www.xoom.com or an iTunes gift
certificate for
the set price multiplied by the amount of links our sponsors
are requesting.
As you Blog you insert sponsor links wherever they best fit
on your posts.
When you have created enough posts to fit all the sponsor
links that have
been requested (maximum 2 per post) you notify us with the
URL to each post
(permanent link).
We verify that all links were done
correctly.
If all
goes well we will occasionally have more opportunities
for you to link to
sponsors!

Links must be in standard html
format and must use the
requested keywords. Both URLs and keywords are given
in an excel format. The
excel sheet is also used by you to report the
locations of the links you've
added.

Payments:

PayPal: If you will be receiving
payment by
www.paypal.com we
will need only
your paypal account email address. PayPal is our preferred

Comments:
this one is pretty convincing! although, i can't tell if this is hoax or not. just in case this is for real, then they should have at least their own website published over the internet and not just promoting this kind of business thru email.

I haven't received that e-mail. And yeah, it's hella convincing and I dunno if this is a hoax or not but if I were you, I'd be careful. Don't be so gullible. :-)

im with micah on this one.

i got one too, sabi ko na lang pagiisipan ko muna. they looked convincing but then again that's how they wanted to be.

=D

well, i dunno. i haven't experienced that. (as if naman diba, mag-aadvertise sila sa blogspot ko.. haha) :)

anyway, ang akin lang, maraming manloloko sa 'net.. it's your own decision naman. pero if ever, para sure ka at walang inaalala, just ignore it. maraming ganyan. dimo rin masasabi kung alin ung genuine or hindi..

have a nice day! :) *hugs*

I got the same email. I googled for his name and your post came up. I'm not sure how to verify this too. I'm asking my webhost server to look it up. I'll inform you if I get confirmation. In case you had it verified too, I hope you could share the info.

too good to be true...:)
