My sem break officially started today....and it will officially end tomorrow. I have just finished taking my last exam yesterday and yet, enrollment starts on monday. How cruel can the world get?

Anyway, I've been spending much time in school last week eventhough classess officially ended last Saturday. I had to take the post test in NCM lst Tuesday, present our research paper in P.E. and tutor my 4th grade cousin for her periodical exams last Wednesday, and take our Litt finals yesterday.

As I was reading through her textbook to find questions for her review test, I was quite bothered with what I found. She's still in 4th grade yet they're already discussing frcature, bone disslocation, osteoporosis, rickets, symptoms and causes of diabetes, appendictis, diarrhea, types of joints, physiologic and metbolic functions, and other anatomy related terms. They have also discussed digestion and how food travels in the body. Their book mentions how amylase works in digestion, what building blocks are, and what happens to fats when theyre broken down. I was quite in awe as I was scanning her textbook. Isnt all these quite complicated for a 4th grader? Not that Im underestimating kids, but hey, these are the concepts that we, senior nursing students, are discussing! Kami ngang matatanda nahihirapan sa mga ganyan, how much more ang mga bata? Do they really expect 4th graders to memorize what muscles protect the heart? Do they expect kids to memorize all the axial and appendicular bones? What shocked me more was that my cousin was able to answer the review test I gave her which consisted mostly of identification. I cant imagine how advanced kid's minds are nowadays. I know Im a bit overreacting but I still believe these concepts are too much for a 4th grader.

Anyhow, tutoring kids is fun. I had fun spending time with my cousin and her friend Blaire. We spent the afternoon of wednesday in the library then my aunt picked us up at around 5. Then we went to South Sea to relax a lil bit.

long long long overdue post

its been a long long long long week..... much has happened since my post birthday celebration. Let me start with that...

Since my birthday fell on an exam day, I didnt get to celebrate it on the exact date. Everyone, including me, was busy studying for our last long exam in research before the finals. I myself had to sacrifice my celebration (not that i was planning on a big one) since I had to make bawi for my low midterm grade. I cant afford to fail anymore. I cant even afford to get a borderline grade. I had to get an above-average grade in order to compensate for my very-below-average midterm grade. My birthday started with me infront of the computer typing our RESEARCH PAPER for PE. I switched my fone to silent mode since i wanted to focus on my paper so I could get it over and done with at the quickest time. I didnt notice the time until my brother, who was watching tv a few feet away from me, greeted me with a kiss. I checked my fone and found out I got a couple of missed calls and text messages from close friends who kept track of my bday, mostly from classmates who were still awake, studying for the exam the next day. I finished at around 4 am..i went to bed and woke up at around 11 am. We had lunck at Mamia's, with my mom, my brother, my aunt and my cousin. After lunch, i went to school to settle my account at the library so that i could get my exam permit. Then, i went to my cousin's place to study for the exam at 7 pm. When i finished reading the 3 chapters at 6pm, i went back to the lib where my friends were studying. They were smiling when I arrived but nobody greeted me. It was understandable since most of them had already texted me the night before. So when we went to the college to take our exam, some classmates greeted me and then......Jua arrived bringing a banner with a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LICA". Hahaha..Now everyone knew it was my birthday! then they started singing happy birthday. All 60 of them. Touching. Heheh. That was basically how my birthday went.

The following day, me, Rizza, Suzzie and Madel decided to celebrate my post birthday somewhere during the late afternoon. After 48 years of choosing the place, we finally decided to go to Hayahay for pizza. Since everyone wanted to see Winnie, I texted her to come with us. And since I promised to invite Ate Mar and Ken earlier that morning, I texted them to come over. And since I could never leave Fiona out, i also texted her. And since Jua and Fiona are classmates, I also invited her. And since Kaloy had asked me where ill be celebrating, i also invited him to come. And since Archelle and Jess are his classmates, they had to come too. And since Ian was the only one missing in the group, I also texted him to come. So there, everyone came except for Winnie (who was out of town) and Ian (who was asleep when i texted him). My supposedly small celebration ended up becoming a KULTO reunion. Kahit malaki-laki nagastos ko, it was ll worth it. It was fun reminiscing all the stupid things we did before and updating on what's new with everyone. It was actually the first time our group became sort of complete this semester. We always had group bondings before but laging maraming hindi mkakapunta. I was happy that only two were absent. But i would've been better if all of them came. And since nobody wanted to be left behind with the picture taking, para fair at para walang lugi, ito nalang ginawa namin..

after nun, back to books na naman since our final exam on NCM was scheduled on thursday that week.

After the final exam craze, all our attention shifted to our upcoming Research Colloquium. We had less than a week to finalize our paper and have our uniforms made. Everyone was on panick mode and anxiety levels were sky high. As for our group, we had our final consultation with our adviser on friday, the day after our final exam. As always, they have come up with a brighter idea and decided to change our topic once again. Hence, our final topic became:

THE EFFECT OF
STRUCTURED HEALTH TEACHING
ABOUT SEX EDUCATION
TO THE KNOWLEDGE LEVEL
OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
IN DUMAGUETE CITY
We barely had 3 more days before the deadline. Aside from the hard copy, we still had to make a powerpoint presentation for the colloquium which was scheduled on wednesday the following week. We had no choice but to stay in one house to finish everything that had to be done. We were able to finish the paper on time, unfortunately, we discovered so many errors that we had to reprint a couple of pages since the rrors would totally ruin the paper. We opted to pass a late than pass early with a lot of errors.
The colloquium was alright. It was kinda unexpected since, even after we made our corrections, we still found a lot of errors which we overlooked earlier. It was too late to correct them since we had already passed our final paper, so all we could do was come up with good defenses incase the panelists would notice the errors. Fortunately, none of the anticipated questions came out during the colloquium proper. Most of the panelists gave us suggestions instead of comments or corrections. The sleepless nights were all worthwhile. No regrets. :)

Im back from my one-week, panic-stricken, sleepless week. But despite the stress I went through last week, the worst is still yet to come. I have major exams every day of the week starting tomorrow. Right now, Im still trying to finish this research paper for P.E. Yes, P.E. the P.E. department has decided to let us, the graduating 4th yr students who lack 2 units of P.E., to work on a research paper instead of letting us attend a regular P.E. class. Im happy with their decision. I couldnt imagine myself attending a P.E. class along with the freshmen. Gad, id look stupid and overage. heheh. I just wish I hadnt procrastinated the last few months. I shouldve worked on this months before when my schedule wasnt tight. Howell, there's no turning back now. Im done with the encoding part though, m about to start making the powerpoint presentation. wish me luck.

it's 10 minutes before my birthday. let's see who greets me first. advance greeting not included. hehe.
