I got my site details this morning from Bloag Advance. The features are great. For beginners, atleast.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use FTP (I have SmartFTP) and how to make my blog appear in my domain.

1. How exactly does FTP work? How does it differ from the File Manager that comes with Cpanel? Which one is easier to work with? Advantages? Disadvantages?

2. When Blog Advance gave me my site details, they included ftp.mydomain.com. What does this mean? Do I automatically have an FTP account? Or do I need to register for one?

3. When I log on to SmartFTP, what username and password do I use? The same one I use in CPanel or the newly registered FTP Account?

4. How do I make my blogger entries appear in themain page of my new domain? I filled up the form in the PUBLISHING section in Blogger but it still doesnt work. How? how? how?

5. In the PUBLISHING section in Blogger for FTP, what username and password do I put, the CPanel username, or a newly registered FTP Acount?

6.If I opt to use Blogger instead of Wordpress for my blog, does it mean I have to edit the layout for my blog page in Blogger.com instead of Cpanel?

7. Do i need to use Redirection all the time? I edited the index.html in the public_html folder but when I tried to open it, it didnt load. I tried to create a new blog folder and copied the index.html file then redirected mydomain.com/blog/index.html to mydomain.com. It worked, but do I have to do this all the time? Isnt there an easier way to edit the homepage without having to create a new folder and redirecting it?

I promised BlogAdvance that I'll be contacting them before Sunday ends for my domain name. Last night, feeling all pressured and clueless on what I really want for my domain name, I gathered all the names that bloggers and friends suggested. At first, I thought of putting them all in a bowl and randomly pick one which will be my final name. But then I realized, I'd only be fooling myself. So instead, I texted some friends the possible choices and asked them which one sounded better. I tallied their choices and came up with the most number of votes which is....tentenenen........magicpurple.com. Ugly? Lame? What? Tell me. I was thinking of settling for purplejunkyard.com but I opted to stick with the decision of the majority. So there, I sent the contact domain host's contact details to BlogAdvance and they'll be the one to work on it. Sweet life. :)

Enough of that.

I've been stealing oranges from the kitchen and bringing them to my room. ahhhh....orange heaven.

Now here's the problem. Since I wasnt really expecting to win, I never really thought of a nice domain name cause buying my own domain was far from reality anyway. Now that I'm gonna have my own site, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO CALL IT! HELP!!

I received quite a number of suggestions with what to do with the site. Some suggested to make it a class site, a barkada site, photo site, file storage site and others which I think were cool but I've already told BA that I'll be using the site for my blog. So there. My next problem is choosing a domain name. Again, others suggested I use oxymorons (i.e. silent screams), my name, a group/collective name, or pinoy slang. (i.e.astig). I'm looking deeper into the latter. I think pinoy slang's cool. If BA permits, I might be able to host a few lost souls. It's also the main reason why im not gonna use iamlica.com. Nobody would want to have a subdomain under iamlica.com, riiigghhttt???! So far, these are what others have suggested and is available:

PLEASE! I AM IN DIRE NEED OF A DOMAIN NAME.

If you grant me that domain, I promise to give BLOG ADVANCE the BIGGEST and most ATTRACTIVE logo in my site for as long as my site lives in cyberspace. That way, everyone will know that my site came from you guys. And I will promote it every week. Come on! Let's Give it a shot. :)

Yes, I dont have a date for the Seniors Ball next month. It's not that I WANT one, we're REQUIRED to have a partner for some reason I didnt bother to ask. I honestly prefer to go with my friends instead of some guy who I barely even know. I cant take my close guy friends because they're either taken or we're not vertically compatible, if you know what I mean.

Suzzie came up with a brillaint idea. Since she too had no one to take to the ball, we decided to find a partner for each other, meaning, she chooses the guy I should take to the ball, and I do the same for her. Who that guy will be still remains unknown.

I cant figure out what exactly prevented me from blogging this past few weeks. It could either be:

• the lecture report [which we were to present to our dean last week]
  
• the 16-chapter midterm exam [where I ended up reading just 8 chapters of it]
  
• our research paper [which is due this Sunday]
  
• another lecture presentation [which we presented this afternoon]
  
• all of the above
  
• or I'm just too lazy to log in to my account
  

We were given time off from our hospital duties this week so that we can focus more on our research paper and our upcoming Research Defense on Feb 20. Since December, I've lost track with the updates of our research paper. Rizza, Ate Tess and I havent been attending the group meetings lately since we have a different schedule from the majority of our groupmates.

I really am not in my normal state of mind. Everything registers so slow. I need some sleep. Babush.

I havent had the urge to update this past few days, which explains my absence from cyberspace. Well, not literally absent since I've been dropping by your sites almost everyday to check for updates. I just didnt feel like typing anything. Not a tag, an entry, a comment or a reply. I've been lazy.

Since we were given some time off from regular classes to work on our research, I decided to edit my overused and abused layout. I cant come up with a more decent one so I guess you and I would have to stick with this for a while.

Now tell me, does the colors hurt your eyes? Or can you read them at all?

I had to take down the images in my links since I figured out it was the reason why my page loads very slowly.

Midterm grades will be released tomorrow. Nothing exciting. Definitely nothing to look forward to. My grades are worse than ever.
