Beautiful Distraction

My sem break officially started today....and it will officially end tomorrow. I have just finished taking my last exam yesterday and yet, enrollment starts on monday. How cruel can the world get?

Anyway, I've been spending much time in school last week eventhough classess officially ended last Saturday. I had to take the post test in NCM lst Tuesday, present our research paper in P.E. and tutor my 4th grade cousin for her periodical exams last Wednesday, and take our Litt finals yesterday.

As I was reading through her textbook to find questions for her review test, I was quite bothered with what I found. She's still in 4th grade yet they're already discussing frcature, bone disslocation, osteoporosis, rickets, symptoms and causes of diabetes, appendictis, diarrhea, types of joints, physiologic and metbolic functions, and other anatomy related terms. They have also discussed digestion and how food travels in the body. Their book mentions how amylase works in digestion, what building blocks are, and what happens to fats when theyre broken down. I was quite in awe as I was scanning her textbook. Isnt all these quite complicated for a 4th grader? Not that Im underestimating kids, but hey, these are the concepts that we, senior nursing students, are discussing! Kami ngang matatanda nahihirapan sa mga ganyan, how much more ang mga bata? Do they really expect 4th graders to memorize what muscles protect the heart? Do they expect kids to memorize all the axial and appendicular bones? What shocked me more was that my cousin was able to answer the review test I gave her which consisted mostly of identification. I cant imagine how advanced kid's minds are nowadays. I know Im a bit overreacting but I still believe these concepts are too much for a 4th grader.

Anyhow, tutoring kids is fun. I had fun spending time with my cousin and her friend Blaire. We spent the afternoon of wednesday in the library then my aunt picked us up at around 5. Then we went to South Sea to relax a lil bit.
